The 12th International Seminar on Disaster is a collaboratiove event between School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) with Kobe University Graduate School of Health Sciences, Japan. This event is a part of routine activities of both institutions and was held firts on 2003. The theme of the current conference is “Health Care Issues Toward Sustainable Development Goals”
The importnace of choosing the above theme is that by the end of the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) era, offers new challenge to all related parties/stake holders including nurses and all health pratitioners worldwide to maintain the acievements that have already gained in that era. Currently we are in the new era of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which is targeted to fulfill by the year of 2030.
There are 17 elements targeted in the SDGs era. These include but not limited to eradicating poverty; achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture; ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages; provide quality education and ensure life long learning opportunitis; achieve gender equality and empower women and girls; ensure sanitation and access to clean water; ansure access to affordable; reliable and suastinable energy; as well as take action to extreem climate.
This seminar is expected to be a scientific event for faculties as well as information distribution towards SDGs. This seminar is also expected to be a source of evidence-based practice in achieving the SDGs, especially those related to disaster.
